An FM system is simply a wireless system designed to help you better identify and understand speech in noisy situations and over distances of up to 15 metres. Some FM systems work together with hearing aids, while others are aimed at people with otherwise normal hearing. A Phonak FM system will work with any make of hearing aid fitted with a Telecoil or ‘T’ switch. The person you are speaking with wears or holds a transmitter (or places this in the middle of your group). This transmitter picks up their speech and uses harmless radio waves to send this to one or more FM receivers, which are connected to your hearing aid. You hear the speakers words directly into your ears without the background noise. |
